Valerie Eickmeier is a distinguished artist whose career spans more than 40 years. She is Professor and Dean Emerita at the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University, where she led the institution from 1998 to 2018.
Eickmeier holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. Her exhibition record includes galleries and museums nationally, and internationally, and her work is included in many public and private collections. Among her many honors are two National Endowment for the Arts project grants, two Creative Renewal Fellowships from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Indiana Arts Commission, and six Arts and Humanities grants from Indiana University. Eickmeier lives between Sarasota, Florida and Carmel, Indiana.
