By simplifying visually and creatively, Mark’s work creates space for quiet connection with the landscape and ourselves. His paintings focus less on documenting a place and more on understanding it—paring scenes down to essential shapes, colors, and relationships. Working both on location and in the studio, he seeks clarity over spectacle, allowing restraint and intention to guide each piece.

Mark Vander Vinne is an Indiana-based landscape oil painter whose work is informed by time spent painting on location throughout Indiana and the Midwest region. His work has been exhibited nationally, including the Hoosier Salon, where he received a Second Place award in the 100th Annual Hoosier Salon Exhibition. In addition to his studio practice, he teaches workshops focused on composition, color, and visual thinking.
