Dan Woodson was born in 1945 in New Castle, Indiana, and now resides in Muncie, Indiana, with his wife, Judy, and two doggies, Nellie and Maggie.

Dan started oil painting in 1994.  Since that time he has won hundreds of awards and judged many shows in and out of state.  In 1998 Dan also co-founded the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association which has become a benefit to Indiana plein air artists.
